By the end of this year, all the televisions in the UK are going digital. This digital switchover is arguably the biggest thing to happen to TV since the introduction of colour. The existing analogue TV signal will be switched off and replaced with a new, stronger digital signal. It means that almost everyone will be able to receive digital TV through an aerial – known as Freeview.

What better time to take advantage of the changeover and replace your old, bulky television set with a brand new, state of the art flat screen TV? LED and LCD TVs are manufactured so that they can be mounted on a wall with ease – just like a picture frame. With a fantastic choice of LED and LCD screens, the Sharp TV at Kandco.com range is also HD ready, allowing you to watch films, nature programmes, soaps and sport in stunning detail.

The benefits to switching to digital:

As well as enjoying the five traditional TV channels, most homes will be able to receive around 40 channels. All areas with have access to at least 20 of the most popular channels, including ITV2, E4 and BBC Three.

Freeview offers you many new features, including on-screen listings, interactivity, audio description and subtitling for people with visual and audio impairments.

If you decide to sign up for a subscription with providers like Sky, Virgin or BT Vision, you could end up receiving up to 160 additional channels and services, including premium movies and sports, broadband, and telephone services.

The benefits of switching to a flat screen TV:

They are lighter and require less space. The main advantage is that they can be mounted to the wall, freeing up even more space in your living room.

Due to improved technology, flat screen television displays are crisp, clear and precise. Digital Dolby also offers superbly detailed and lifelike sound, creating an impressive overall viewing experience.

Finally, the flat screen allows images to remain focused. Traditional TVs with a rounded screen often distort images, as it is impossible for lines to appear straight.

Internet phone service can easily be declared as one revolutionary turn in the domain of communication. Characterized by the most high tech advancements, internet phones have turned out to be an obligation in the modern communication set ups of organizations. Internet phones have modified the overall working of the organizations by introducing novel, convenient and technologically smart modes of integration. At present, both government and private sector is being benefited at the hands of internet phone service.

Earlier, when people were not that compatible with technology, new inventions used to take a while to settle in, however, at present, the extent at which the internet usage is expanding amongst the masses, people are no longer reluctant towards smart moves. With internet spreading at an ever increasing rate, more and more people tend to grasp the working mechanism of internet phones and resultantly, opt for the better choice. The simple phenomenon of conversion of voice into digital data is being comprehended by a great number of lots that is, in turn expanding the circle of internet phone users. Presently, a huge number of service providers like Axvoice are offering reliable services in the given domain.
One hurdle that lingered the acceptance of VoIP in the customer’s market was the requirement of an altogether new hardware to make VoIP functional as a substitute of conventional PSTN phones. However, further innovations in the given grounds have made it possible for the customers to convert their ordinary phones into VoIP supporting internet phones by mere plugging their phones with an adaptor that allows rerouting the calls over internet. The customers, therefore, can now save the expanse of a new hardware and still avail the benefits of internet phone service.

Internet phones being the latest communication trend are posing threats to a number of conventional modes and system as more and more people are opting for the internet telephony every day. The fate of a number of telecommunication companies including Telco is endangered as people now save huge sums of money by making international calls through VoIP instead. A big percentage of international calls have already shifted to internet phones and the trend in continuing to increase day by day. The future of communication safely stays with the internet telephony overwhelming telcos completely.

The fact that internet telephony has deprived governments of huge taxes that they received via conventional telecommunication techniques has made several governments includingChinato ban the VoIP calls within their premises.

However, the customers being the ultimate beneficiaries of the internet phone service are opting for this advanced mode in bulks day by day. Further advances in the service and dawn of more apt service providers like Axvoice are making the service even more acceptable by the customers. Decreasing internet rates are allowing more and more public to come under the umbrella of internet phone benefits. Axvoice offers such a diversity of VoIP service packages along with a number of value added services for the customers to select the most suited packages as per their requirements.

The uptake of 3DTV has not proved to be as rapid as some experts predicted when the new range of television sets first arrived on the market. Despite the first live sports broadcast in 3D being all the way back in 2008, it’s still something of a niche market, and of the major broadcasters, only Sky have really championed the 3DTV cause.

One of the problems for people looking to purchase 3DTVs is that there simply isn’t enough programming around to make it a worthwhile investment. One of the reasons that there isn’t a lot of programming is quite simply that it’s a complicated and expensive process to get a 3D image from the set to your living room.

If we take the example of a live sports broadcast, there are six phases that the signal has to go through before it ends up on your set.

First of all the action has to be shot using a different type of camera. These cameras are essentially double cameras, positioned very close to each other which capture exactly the same detail as one another, just from a slightly different angle – much like a pair of human eyes. These cameras are phenomenally expensive, and that’s just the start of the process.

After the images are captured they need to be framed separately (step 2) and then combined using some very clever computer technology (step 3). Whilst this is not particularly time consuming, after all, it can be done in the blink of an eye, the technology is powerful and very cutting edge.

From there the images are put through a digital HD encoder, so that they can get from the site of the broadcast to your living room. Once the coding is completed the images are sent up to a satellite, or via a television mast, from where it’s then received by a satellite dish or by the connection on your digital television.

After that, it’s just a simple process for the 3DTV to unscramble the encoding and show you the images, whilst your eyes essentially function as the original pair of cameras, seeing the image from a slightly different angle to one another, and combining the image in your head to give the perception of a 3D image.

So, all in all, 3DTV is incredibly complicated stuff, and particularly in the current economic climate, it’s a significant undertaking for broadcasters to produce 3D material for what remains a relatively small market.

Technology plays a very important role in our society most especially that deals with networking technologies, as we get more connected so do we need network architect/administrator to properly setup, manage and administer networks.

To cater demands in IT with regards to Network Architect/Administrator and who are interested to bolster their networking career Cisco Certified Network Associate or (CCNA) offered at Concentrix Institute. There’s no need to take a review or exam in Manila or Cebu because we have out very own here in Davao City.

I signed up earlier at the Concentrix Booth at SM Davao Activity Center while attending the Davao Software Exchange dated December 5, 2010, this came just in time after the succesful BlogFest 2010.

On December 13, 2010 I attended an IT BOOTCAMP entitled “Networking Essentials” with topics covering the basics of networking ie; wireless and wired networking, theory and foundation.

Awarded a Certificate of Completion signed by Norbert Angelo O. Elbanbuena – CCNA, Cisco Certified Trainer and Takuya K. Nishiyama – Training Center Head. Big thanks and applause.

As a plus we toured the Concentrix building – we saw a well-organized cubicles all lined up with more than a hundred computers, a typical call center facility, all temperature controlled, security monitoring 24/7, also got a glimpse of their network facility too, I can see best networking practices being observed.

The said completion is an entry to gain insights for those who are interested to take the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) which is broken down into four (4) parts namely;

(CCNA 1) Module 1 – Networking Basics
- Internetworking
- Internet Protocols
- IP Subnetting & Variable Length
- Subnet Masks (VLSMs)

(CCNA 2) Module 2 – Router and Routing Basics
- CISCO IOS
- IP Routing
- Enhanced IGRP (EIGRP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)

(CCNA 3) Module 3 – Switching Basics and Intermediate Routing
- Layer 2 Switching
- Virtual LANs (VLANs)
- Managing CISCO Internetwork
- Managing Traffic with Access Lists

(CCNA 4) Module 4 – WAN Technologies
- Wide Area Networking Protocols

Hands-on Simulation and Pre Examination Review.

Once you pass the exam the certification it is valid up to three (3) years, you’ll have to take an CCNA exam to update new technical skills as new networking technologies evolve.

Concentrix Institute is also a venue for training and seminar needs.

To know more about the Cisco training you may call or contact Concentrix Damosa IT Park, Lanang Davao City at tel. nos. 235-5099 or 235-5000 local 8097 to 8098 or send your email to ci_info[@]concentrix.com.

Background:

This coming May 15, 2010 my HP Compaq Presario C767TU under the family of hp laptop, that I bought will be turning two (2) years old. The good thing about this laptop it has never physically broke up with me, except on some occasions I have to reinstall the operating system couple of times because it went amok caused by a computer virus, after installing and setting of necessary applications and software I made sure backup images are created, just in case I go the same dilemma over again, deployment will be easy.

This HP Compaq Presario C767TU laptop is beefed up with 2 Gb. of system memory, a hard drive of 250 Gb, a processor of 1.73 Ghz dual core, comes with a widescreen lcd measuring approx. 15.4” good for viewing high-definition movies, has SD slot for uploading pictures and other media, various connectors include S-Video, LAN, VGA port, DVD Writer, three (3) USB, best of all it’s Wifi ready.

Where ever I go, I always bring my laptop with me – in blogging events, seminar training workshops, meeting with some friends, doing projects for clients and a bloggers dream of making money online.

What I like about this laptop:
Better viewing of high-definition videos since it’s widescreen, I find the keypad spacious enough to accommodate my ubberly sized fingers.

What I don’t like:
After long use the keypad area seems to get very hot – hands get sweaty, the internal camera works fine and clear during the day, but image looks blurry during night-time, It’s quite bulky – it weighs over 2.5x kilos I have to bring a backpack to carry it around, battery life somewhat shortened in a couple of an hour – I keep it plugged to a power outlet on high performance mode – (battery though deteriorates over time)

Lyle, on the other hand was looking for a laptop to shop around and I came along following him.

We visited some computer shops and ended at Electro World, I bought myself an HP Mini Note 2133 which I got from my hard earned adsense and the unit is same as brendel’s but mine was the smaller and the lighter one.
