Networking 101: Network Essentials

December 20, 2010 By Faust Principe

Technology plays a very important role in our society most especially that deals with networking technologies, as we get more connected so do we need network architect/administrator to properly setup, manage and administer networks.

To cater demands in IT with regards to Network Architect/Administrator and who are interested to bolster their networking career Cisco Certified Network Associate or (CCNA) offered at Concentrix Institute. There’s no need to take a review or exam in Manila or Cebu because we have out very own here in Davao City.

I signed up earlier at the Concentrix Booth at SM Davao Activity Center while attending the Davao Software Exchange dated December 5, 2010, this came just in time after the succesful BlogFest 2010.

On December 13, 2010 I attended an IT BOOTCAMP entitled “Networking Essentials” with topics covering the basics of networking ie; wireless and wired networking, theory and foundation.

Awarded a Certificate of Completion signed by Norbert Angelo O. Elbanbuena – CCNA, Cisco Certified Trainer and Takuya K. Nishiyama – Training Center Head. Big thanks and applause.

As a plus we toured the Concentrix building – we saw a well-organized cubicles all lined up with more than a hundred computers, a typical call center facility, all temperature controlled, security monitoring 24/7, also got a glimpse of their network facility too,  I can see best networking practices being observed.

The said completion is an entry to gain insights for those who are interested to take the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) which is broken down into four (4) parts namely;

(CCNA 1) Module 1 – Networking Basics
– Internetworking
– Internet Protocols
– IP Subnetting & Variable Length
– Subnet Masks (VLSMs)

(CCNA 2) Module 2 – Router and Routing Basics
– CISCO IOS
– IP Routing
– Enhanced IGRP (EIGRP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)

(CCNA 3) Module 3 – Switching Basics and Intermediate Routing
– Layer 2 Switching
– Virtual LANs (VLANs)
– Managing CISCO Internetwork
– Managing Traffic with Access Lists

(CCNA 4) Module 4 – WAN Technologies
– Wide Area Networking Protocols

Hands-on Simulation and Pre Examination Review.

Once you pass the exam the certification it is valid up to three (3) years, you’ll have to take an CCNA exam to update new technical skills as new networking technologies evolve.

Concentrix Institute is also a venue for training and seminar needs.
