Sharing 3G Internet Connection thru LAN in Windows 7

Here’s an inexpensive way to setup your own internet sharing connection for those who can’t afford to buy a router. It took me quite a while to figure out how to share internet connection using the 3G Globe Tattoo usb stick, after few tweaks it finally worked. Yay!

Then you don’t want your colleagues or office mates bugging you when they want to use your computer, while you’re doing research on Mobile Media Management Platform, browsing the internet, so I’ve created a quick fix for this, had a 8-port switch in place and two computers connected thru a local area network.

To get things started here’s what you should do:

Step 1: On your Windows 7 computer, click start – Control Panel

Step 2: Network and Internet

Step 3: Network and Sharing Center

Step 4: Change adapter settings

Step 5: Select Globe Broadband – Postpaid

Step 6: Right Click – Properties

Step 7: Options – PPP Settings, check Negotiate multi-link for single-link connections, then OK

Step 8: Go back to Step 7 at Sharing tab Check all three boxes under Internet Connection Sharing click OK.

Step 9: Once the connection is shared, Go back to Step 6 – Local Area Connection – Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) the assigned IP Address for LAN is: 192.168.137.1 use this address in setting up the default gateway for client computers.

Notes:
Globe Tattoo usb stick software must be installed before setting up Internet Connection Sharing.
IP address of client computers must be set to 192.168.137.xxx – xxx denotes any ip numbers of your choice
Gateway on client computers be set to 192.168.137.1
