Blackjack tournaments are not as commonplace as you might imagine. However, if you know where to play, they can be found.
These represent an interesting way to play one of the internet’s most famous card games. How do they work, though? Each casino may have its own rules regarding blackjack tournaments.
However, none of them are particularly challenging to learn to play. Allow us to walk you through the process of trying your hand at the most common ones below.
Requirements Will Vary from Site to Site
The exact requirements for playing in blackjack tournaments at casinos will vary. In some cases, you can expect to do nothing more than bet, while in others, you may be required to win to land a decent prize. There are typically three main ways you can win in a blackjack tournament, and we’ll walk you through those below.
Most Blackjacks Acquired
One of the most common ways to win in a blackjack tournament is to land blackjack. Ideally, you’ll do this several times.
A casino may offer you a fixed prize if you win with a blackjack. Alternatively, they may rank you (compared with other players) based on how many blackjacks you are able to land when playing the game during the promotional window.
Largest Amount Won
Another way to win in a blackjack tournament is to score highly on a leaderboard. This will see you ranked according to how much you have won when betting on the game.
The more successful you have been, the better you will perform. However, because this is a “figure” based competition, it naturally favors high-rollers over small-stakes bettors, as they will win more proportionally based on their high stakes.
The Most Wagered Overall
The same is true of blackjack tournaments that reward players based on the amount they’ve wagered. The more cash they’ve splashed, the higher up the leaderboard and tournament players will claim.
This is disproportionate and weighted against low rollers, who may place as many bets as their counterparts but with smaller stakes.
If you can find a tournament that rewards you based on “how many bets” you’ve wagered rather than the amount those bets are worth, these could make for fairer competitions.
General Points-Based Competitions
Finally, it is not without reasons to find blackjack tournaments that may contain elements of all the above competitions. In these tournaments, you’ll be rewarded with points based on your accomplishments.
For instance, winning with a blackjack may see you claim X points. If you win or wager a specific amount, you can claim Y points.
Alternatively, you may claim Z points if you have a Six-Card Charlie or so on. At the end of the tournament, the players with the biggest number of points will win a share of the prize pool.
These tournaments tend to account for all players, so they are unquestionably the ideal blackjack tournaments to aim for if you can find them.
