Lazada Connects Filipino to Online Shopping

With the emergence of e-commerce, people now are starting to learn on how to shop conveniently.Thanks to some online shopping mall that help costumers experience the best and convenient way of shopping.

Inanc Balci, co-founder and CEO of Lazada Philippines, said, “We are more customer-centric approached. The company has been brought by Eurpean investors—Rocket Internet—the leading international online venture builder and accelerator  who are founders of Zalando in Europe, Dafiti in Brazil, and lamoda in Russia.

THE MAN BEHIND LAZADA
Graduated at Purdue University with doube major in Engineering and Economics, Inanc Balci, is driven by his relentless passion to head the Philippine operation of Lazada.

At 27, he is managing the operations of Lazada Philippines with 250 employees. Originally came from Turkey, the young CEO confidently shared his achievement of 20-percent on his total sales target last year.

Prior joining Lazada, Balci worked as Investment Banking Analyst at Nomura International—a leading financial services group in London.

On a press statement, Balci said, “The launching of our new fashion marketplace platform gives us a bigger step to become the biggest online shopping destination not only in the Philippines, but to other countries as well. With this model, brands can also leverage on Lazada’s popularity and operational expertise. Furthermore, smaller retailers benefit traffic through us.”

Balci adds, “Our 7,000-sqm warehouse in Muntinlupa where we center our stocks and products is a proof of our expansion. We are also looking to increase our business in the provincial area, particularly Visayas and Mindanao, as they are also a potential market to us.”

Balci explained, “The $250-million global partnership investment fund of Lazada enables the company to further strengthen and bolster its market presence in the global e-commerce.”

This year, the company launched its whole-year promo dubbed as “Lifestyle Monday with MasterCard.” With this promotion, MasterCard cardholders in the Philippines will get 10% additional discount when they shop from the lifestyle and fashion categories of Lazada  every Monday. The promo will run until December 31, 2014.

The company also operates in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
