GSIS extends computer loan until December 31, 2021

By Faust Principe April 26, 2021

State pension fund Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has extended the application deadline for the GSIS Computer Loan program until December 31, 2021.

GSIS Computer Loan extended December 31, 2021

“The GSIS Computer Loan is intended to assist government employees in purchasing a computer unit for their online work or even for the virtual classes of their children.

Under the program, GSIS members may borrow Php30,000, payable in three years at an interest of 6% per annum.

The loan is very member-friendly as it has a monthly amortization of only Php 983.33. And the application may be done online,” GSIS President and General Manager Rolando Ledesma Macasaet said.

Since its launch in November last year, a total of 109,000 government workers have so far availed of the loan.

A GSIS member publicly expressed his appreciation for the program and posted it on social media.

“Thank you very much for this Computer Loan Facility. I was able to buy a beautiful laptop, which I am using now both for my personal and work-related matters.

I sincerely thank you for this facility. Had it not been for this, I would not have a new laptop of my own. Ang galing ni PGM Macasaet po. Mabuhay ang GSIS,” wrote Ronald Allan Sta. Ana of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in his Facebook account.

“Dahil siguro kumpleto at tama ang in-attach kong documents sa online application ko, na-credit agad sa UMID account ko ang proceeds within the day. Hindi ko na kinailangang magpunta sa GSIS,” Sta. Ana added.

Sta. Ana is a Sr. Technical Education and Skills Development Specialist who develops guidelines for flexible learning delivery modes (online, distance learning, on-the-job training) used in technical vocational courses.

As TESDA implements alternative work arrangements, he brings his new laptop to the office and when he goes home to Pangasinan.

Qualified to apply for the Computer Loan are active members who have paid at least three months of premiums; have permanent appointment; are not on leave of absence without pay; have no pending administrative or criminal case; have no arrears under the GSIS Financial Assistance Loan (GFAL); have no past due GSIS loan except housing loan; and are not under suspended agencies.

In addition, they should have a net take-home pay of not lower than the amount required by the General Appropriations Act after all monthly obligations have been deducted.

Members may file their applications via eGSISMO (online GSIS facility); email to the handling branch (see updated email addresses at https://www.gsis.gov.ph/advisory-on-the-new-email-addresses-of-gsis-offices); drop boxes in GSIS offices across the country; the GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (GWAPS) kiosks located in all GSIS branches, Department of Education offices, provincial capitols, city halls, Robinsons Malls and selected SM Supermalls.

Loan proceeds will be directly credited to the borrower’s GSIS eCard or Unified Multipurpose Identification (UMID) card.
