The Evolution of Internet Speeds over Recent Years

By Faust Principe October 24, 2015

Evolution of the internet will never be the same

Evolution of the Internet Speeds

Many younger users of the internet have never known life without this invaluable technology and have come to take it for granted to a degree.

However, people of a certain age will be only too aware of how painfully slow the internet was when it first started to become mainstream and how frustrating it could be.

Many of us will remember the days of dial up broadband and although having internet access was an exciting novelty at the time it could still become very annoying to have to cope with the downfalls of dial up.

Fortunately, things have moved very fast in terms of internet advancements and not only do we now enjoy access to a far greater variety of services, products and information online but we also get to enjoy high speed and even super-fast broadband speeds that enable us to access what we need in next to no time and without the constant interruption of being disconnected.

Internet-enabled devices

It is not just home broadband speeds that have seen a vast increase when it comes to speed and quality but also speeds on internet enabled devices.

Over the past decade, smartphones and more recently tablets have become hugely popular amongst those that want to be able to get online while on the move. At first, network providers offered only 2G speeds on mobile phones, which was the most basic connection.

However, technological advancements enabled us to start enjoying the benefits of 3G over recent years, which meant that we were able to use our phones to not only make and receive calls and texts but also get online and browse the internet while on the move.

Even more recently, network operators have provided access to 4G, and this has enables users of smartphones and tablets to enjoy a far faster connection.

This has enabled users of these devices to enjoy not only basic browsing but also entertainment such as being able to stream movies, music and shows in next to no time through the various sites that provide these services.

Those that enjoy gaming are also able to benefit from an enhanced experience, making these faster connections perfect for fans of free bingo games such as those available at Coral.

Gaming fans can now also use their devices to enjoy table and slot games with ease and convenience via these sites, and without having to worry about slow connections marring their experience.

Broadband and network providers continue to work towards improvements in technology and with providers such as Virgin working on ever-increasing speeds as well as network operators working on bringing 5G connections to us, going online will become an increasingly pleasurable experience.
