The knockout stage will have to continue with Galaxy Racer (GXR), Execration (XctN), and Neon Esports all tied up in Group B.
Meanwhile, Motivate.Trust Gaming (MG.Trust) leads Group A, and will be proceeding to the playoffs along with Adroit Esports.
Over the course of the weekend, teams continued to play competitively, but this time with higher stakes. Losing could lead to elimination from Top Clans 2020, so teams are more than eager to prove themselves this time around.
In Group A, both Adroit and MG.Trust secured their slots by decisively winning their respective series. Both teams swept their adversaries, leading to massive boosts on their scores. With 7 points for MG.Trust and 5 points for Adroit, they ensured that they would fight another day.
In Group B, none of the teams would admit defeat. GXR’s 2-0 over Vice Esports could have led to qualification. But XctN and Neon both scored a win over each other. As a result, all three teams ended up with 5 points, and will have to settle the score in a tiebreaker.
Winning Over the Odds
The situation in Group B led to an extension of the knockout stage. Vice Esports has been eliminated, while the rest of Group B will fight on.
On Wednesday, October 14, the three teams will go head-to-head against each other to determine which two teams will proceed to the playoffs.
Once the final four teams have been determined, the clash of the group stage winners will proceed in a double-elimination bracket.
The playoffs round will commence on Wednesday, October 28. The Grand Finals, where the champion will be crowned as Top Clans 2020 Dota 2 Champions and bringing home $7,000, will be held on October 30.
