Possible New Updates For The 10th Anniversary Of CS:GO

CS:GO is one of the most iconic games of the 21st century created and released by Valve on August 21, 2012. However, a lack of new changes and updates has driven many players and fans to complain about the current state of the shooter.

Thus, with the decade of the shooter just around the corner, the community was expecting some big changes in terms of game mechanics. But it looks like the transition to Source 2 engine is not likely to happen this month. However, the developers could be working on a new big operation to release for the game’s tenth anniversary this Saturday.

In fact, major CS:GO updates are extremely rare. But we need to understand that even the smallest changes in the game are made with great difficulty and require a lot of time and effort from the developers. This, in turn, greatly slows down the process of fixing bugs that appear in the game regularly. That said, a new long-awaited update could possibly come this month. Let’s look more closely at what some rumors suggest.

The Devs are Working on a New Operation

On average, each operation lasts about five months, and the next one comes out after eight months. However, it is worth noting that the competitive map pool has not been updated since the beginning of 2018, and this is already driving both the professional and amateur scenes crazy.

In the first days of August 2022, a new remake of Tuscan was released and is available to download from the Steam Workshop. But we will have to wait for Valve to add it to the official map pool of the video shooter. Also, at the time of our writing, it is known that the devs are working on a new operation just in time for a decade of the game.

A Few Maps with Source 2

In July, the popular data miner, Gabe Follower, tweeted that Valve’s developers have been working on several maps with the Source 2 engine, including Overpass, Inferno, and Italy. Some rumors have suggested that it could be coming to the game in Oct, but nothing has been confirmed at this moment.

What we know is that IEM Rio Major is coming to the competitive CS:GO scene on the last day of October. Thus, in less than two months, all fans can enjoy action-packed matches and endless betting opportunities for their favorite teams. In this way, we recommend you to visit the https://csgoeasybets.com/ portal to not be left behind on the news regarding this Major.

Transition to Source 2 is Not Coming?

The average users are unlikely to see noticeable differences in shooting or game mechanics, but the engine will give more freedom to the game developers themselves.

The Old Source Engine: Bug Examples

Currently, Valve shooter is still running on the Source engine, which requires an urgent replacement as it uses a lot of old codes that are not used when creating modern games. The code is outdated and complex, so bugs are fixed for years and sometimes not fixed at all. For better understanding, we can refer to a few examples of how the code spoiled a huge number of games:

  • The amateur triple boost on the long in Dust 2.
  • The legendary Olofmeister’s landing on Overpass.
  • The bugs with a bomb that got stuck in textures on Inferno.
  • The bomb that could be planted in textures on Train.

As you can see, the old engine is outdated not only because it is just old but also because it complicates the lives of the Valve devs, preventing them from quickly making the necessary changes to the shooter. That’s why the number of rumors about the release of CS:GO on the new engine is growing every year.

When will Source 2 Replace its Predecessor?

In this regard, the CS:GO community has been waiting for a new version of the Source engine for a long time. In addition, Valve constantly leaves lines with parts of code for Source 2, and several main maps have already been ported to the new engine. Even though the devs have said little about the engine itself, all the rumors indicated the transition to Source 2 on August 21.

At least that’s what several insiders expected. But according to the aforementioned CS: GO leaker Gabe Follower, the game developers are working on a new operation instead of introducing the long-awaited Source 2. Chances are the new engine ain’t happening this August.

But the good news is that the devs are preparing for the arrival of a large number of new players to the shooter. For this reason, Valve updated the matchmaking system and calibration – there is simply no chance for the old engine to bring them.
