Another action-packed day of Rules of Survival concluded yesterday on Day 2 of Top Clans 2020 ROS Group Stages. Yesterday, Team Secret’s consistent high-ranking finishes throughout all six rounds led to them leading the rankings at the end of the day.
Day 2 of the Group Stages had sixteen more teams competing for a chance to head straight to the Semi-Finals. The bottom eight teams in the rankings will be heading to the knockout stage. This stipulation dictated the teams’ strategy: cautious and careful.
On Day 2, two teams consistently scored high across all six rounds. Team Secret, mentioned earlier, stayed first place across the whole competition. The other team was SCG who consistently killed tons of enemies. However, unlike Team Secret, SCG only managed to survive within the top three during Rounds 4 and 5.
Meanwhile, one team with high expectations on them wasn’t so consistent today, but still managed to finish as part of the top 8. This team was Wheat Town Gaming, champions of multiple local ROS tournaments in the Philippines. While the team struggled to make their mark in most of the rounds, they nonetheless finished strong. Scoring 11 kills shared among the teammates, Wheat Town Gaming eliminated Never Back Down at the final round of the competition.
NBA was also a consistent Top 4 finisher, going third in Round 1, then second on Rounds 3, 5, and 6. NBA had a decent number of kills under their belt, too, but they were never able to finish a round as final survivors.
On Day 1, MVPs were named from among the victors of the Round. The teams on Day 1 were so aggressive that teams were able to become the final survivors by killing every other team they met on the way. But on Day 2, the MVPs weren’t always from the winning teams. Day 2’s meta was more cautious, with teams prioritizing survival over kills.
It’s going to be interesting to see the top 8 teams of Group A and Group B go head to head with their different playstyles. What will happen when the aggressive Group A go against the survivalist Group B? Which strategy will prove to be the winning strategy? We shall find out during the Semi-Finals on October 20-22.
Meanwhile, the sixteen teams finishing at the bottom 8 of both days will still have a chance to redeem themselves. During the knockout stages on October 11, these sixteen teams will truly fight for their own survival, with the day being their last chance to prove that they can become a legit top clan.
